Both major political party leaders are in Auckland today making announcements.
Labour leader Chris Hipkins has been at the Cordis Hotel in Grafton announcing his party's fiscal plan.
Its numbers have been reviewed by Infometrics that have concluded the costings appear reasonable and fit within the Budget allowances.
Party's finance spokesperson Grant Robertson, who was also at the announcement acknowledged the next few Budgets would be tight but said there was room for a limited number of new commitments.
Meanwhile, National leader Christopher Luxon has been on a walkabout in Newmarket and has announced his party's policy to deliver an extra 300 frontline constables over the next four years.
National's police spokesperson Mark Mitchell said Labour's "soft-on-crime approach" had left the police force "increasingly stretched".
"Only National has the policies to get tough on gangs, to ensure there are consequences for youth offenders, including boot camps, and to ensure sentences better reflect offending and that prisoners have more rehabilitation."
Meanwhile, Greens co-leader Marama Davidson has visited Poutu Pasifika, a sexual violence service for Pasifika in Auckland.
