Labour leader Chris Hipkins says the National Party's fiscal vision "says everything about their priorities".

Hipkins spoke to media in Lower Hutt this afternoon after National leader Christopher Luxon today revealed his party's fiscal plan.

Hipkins says National were prioritising cutting benefits and giving tax breaks to property speculators and landlords in the middle of a cost of living crisis.

"I think that says everything about their priorities. This will result in more children living in poverty."

He said National always liked to punch down.

"Contrary to what the National Party think it's not easy to live on a benefit. People on a benefit generally are living a pretty hand to mouth existence. Cutting their benefits in order to pay for tax cuts is going to force more children into poverty and it's going to make life very difficult for those people."

The other political leaders are also out and about the country on the campaign trail today.

National leader Christopher Luxon has been in Auckland for the release of the fiscal plan, while Greens co-leader James Shaw is also in Auckland and was also due to release an independent fiscal review of its politics later today.

ACT leader David Seymour has been in Christchurch and is travelling down to Wanaka for a public meeting, while NZ First leader Winston Peters is in Napier, also for a public meeting.
