All aboard locomotive lovers and anyone railway curious about the Tauranga Model Marine and Engineering Club.

The club has been holding the first half of its annual event today in perfectly fine weather conditions and is set to hold the second day tomorrow, Sunday November 12 at Memorial Park Railway Tauranga.

If you like trains, traction engines or any form of engineering in general, and missed today's open day, come on down and check them out on Sunday.

Today, the club had the main display on show with plenty to look at. Included are new models in the making and some recently completed masterpieces.

The weekend also includes two days of train rides with visiting locomotives as well as the chance to see extra locomotives and displays of the engineering that takes place in the club on Saturdays.

“This two-day event gives the club an opportunity to show off, invite other affiliated clubs to join us, and give the public an insight into the ‘hobby’,” says club secretary Warren Karlsson.

“Although having an engineering background is not a prerequisite to join our club, we have members from all walks of life. Some come to just enjoy the interaction with the public, others to further a lifelong passion of railways.”
