State Highway 29 over the Kaimai range continues to have overnight closures each night from Sunday to Thursday this week while asphalt repairs are being made.

Overnight closures are occurring from 8pm Sunday, December 10 to 5.30am Friday, December 15.

Motorists are advised to plan ahead and expect delays.

For each night, the following traffic management will be operating:

SH29 will be closed in both directions 8pm-9pm.

Reopening to eastbound traffic only from 9pm - 12.30am.

Closed in both directions 12.30am-1am.

Reopening to westbound only traffic 1am-4.30am.

Closed in both directions 4.30am - 5.30am.

Open to both directions of traffic after 5.30am for daytime traffic.

An alternative route is as follows:

Northbound: SH2 to SH26 to SH24 or SH27 (and vice versa)

Southbound: SH2 to SH33 to SH5 to SH1 to SH29 (and vice versa)
