Police say they are yet to locate a person of interest after officers were seen searching properties and roads in Ohauiti on Thursday evening. 

SunLive readers report that armed police were seen between around 5.30pm and 8pm in Hairini and Ohauiti.

One reader says five armed police with a dog were walking up Ohauiti Road from the corner of Welcome Bay Road.

Police were also seen searching in McFetridge Lane, Hass Drive and Ila Place in Hairini.

One reader says Police with guns were looking around their property.

“Officers were seeking a person of interest in relation to an ongoing enquiry,” says a police spokesperson.

“He is yet to be located.”

Police say, the person was not located. 

Police were armed as a precaution.
