If you are planning on using the Mount Wellington highway, expect lengthy delays. 

Emergency services are responding to reports of a serious crash in Mount Wellington this morning.

The crash, involving a vehicle and a pedestrian on Mount Wellington Highway, was reported to Police around 9am.

Police say, initial indications suggest the pedestrian has received serious injuries.

Police say, diversions are currently in place however motorists are advised to expect lengthy delays and to please avoid travel in the area where possible.

The Serious Crash Unit has been advised.

Motorists are advised Mount Wellington Highway is now open following an earlier crash.

Police say, the person injured has since been transported to hospital with serious injuries.

Police thank motorists for their patience while emergency services worked at the scene.

The investigation into the circumstances of the crash remains ongoing.
