Reports are coming in of a serious crash in Thames.
NZ Transport Agency is reporting that State Highway 25 is closed in both directions through the Coromandel Peninsual township.
"A serious crash has been reported to emergency services in the area," reads a highway alert from the roading agenc.
"SH25 is closed between Pahau Streert and Mary Street."
People are being advised to follow the directions from emergency services on scene.
"Local road detours are available, and drivers must follow all directions from emergency services at the crash site.
"Road users should plan extra time for their travel until the crash scene is cleared."
A police spokesperson confirms they are responding to a two vehicle crash involving a parked car on Queen Street, Thames.
"One person is in a moderate to serious condition and is being transported to hospital via helicopter."
NZTA reports the road is closed in both directions.
