Emergency services are responding to the scene of a two-vehicle crash on State Highway 2 near Pukehina.

The crash on SH2 near Rogers Road, between Otamarakau and Pukehina Beach Road has blocked the road in both directions. A detour is in place.

"It was reported shortly before 11am, and involves two vehicles," says a police spokesperson.

Police and ambulance are at the scene.

"Initial indications are there are injuries."

Motorists are asked to avoid the area, and expect delays.

"Follow directions of emergency services at the scene."

Southbound detour: Turn right onto Pukehina Station Road, straight onto Old Coach Road, then right back onto State Highway 2, Northbound reverse detour.
