The Northern Brave have made the journey to Wellington as they prepare to take on the Blaze and Firebirds at the Basin Reverse tomorrow, Monday January 15.
Pete Borren has named an unchanged squad following Friday’s strong win against the Auckland Hearts in which Sri Lankan overseas Chamari Athapaththu picked up her third Gamechanger award in four matches, belting 58 at the top of the order.
Chamari u has made 113 runs from her first four games in Brave colours, with Marina Lamplough (91) and Jess Watkin (88) providing support from the middle order with strike rates above a run-a-ball.
Marama Downes has led the attack brilliantly with 7 wickets, with Athapaththu and Watkin on 6 each.
Monday's clash is a re-match from an excellent game at Bay Oval on the January 2 where the Northern Brave won in a final over thriller.
A win would see the Brave move into fourth and give them a real chance of finals qualification with games in hand on the rest of the table.
Northern Brave Men
The Northern Brave Men have faced a tough defence of their Super Smash crown with one win from their opening six matches but will be looking for a change of fortunes against the Firebirds on Monday.
BJ Watling has named one change top his squad with seamer Zak Gibson returning for Neil Wagner.
Captian Jeet Raval has been in good form with 148 runs, whilst Scott Kuggeleijn’s strike rate of 197 has seen him used in a pinch-hitting powerplay role at first drop.
The Firebirds have been the form side in the competition and sit in top spot on 22 points from 8 games.
Monday’s fixtures kick off at 12.30pm with the Brave (W) taking on the Wellington Blaze, before the Men face the Firebirds at 4pm.
