Spanning three days in late-February, an inaugural free art studio trail – stretching from Waihi Beach to Pukehina – will introduce art enthusiasts to more than 80 top artists across the Western Bay of Plenty.
From February 23 to February 25, 2024, BOP artists will be opening their studio doors to the public, warmly welcoming anyone to visit and see their work up-close and personal.
“We are absolutely thrilled about the inaugural BOP Open Studios Art Trail Weekend,” says Christie Cramer, a member of the organising team and participating artist.
“This is an extraordinary opportunity for art lovers to connect with our vibrant local arts scene and for artists to share their passion and inspiration with a wider audience.
"We can’t wait to showcase the diverse talents our region has to offer and create lasting memories for all attendees.”
The organising team, made up of Nicola Welten, Constanza Briceno, Christie Cramer, Shona Mackenzie and Tracey Finch, plan to make BOP Open Studios an annual ‘must-attend’ event on the arts calendar.
Studios will open their doors across Tauranga, Mount Maunganui, Papamoa, Katikati, and Te Puke.
From Athenree to Pukehina there is so much to discover – painting, jewellery, pottery, sculpture and more.
Meet local artists in their cherished creative spaces and explore the workshops where dreams are hatched.
Discover what ignites each artist’s passion, and the driving force behind their practice.
Delve into the journey of how canvas, clay, textile, or metal became the mediums through which they channel their ideas.
And, of course, feast your eyes on their creations and gain insight into the stories behind each piece.
Mark your calendars and get ready to embark on an artistic adventure in the Western Bay of Plenty from February 23-25, 2024, from 9.30am-4.30pm daily.
