Police can now name the motorcyclist who died following a crash in the Bay of Plenty.

He was 28-year-old local man Avia Faataape.

The motorbike he was riding and another vehicle crashed in Murupara on Tuesday, January 16, says a police spokesperson.

"Enquiries into the circumstances of the crash, which occurred at the intersection of Rimu Road and Oregon Drive about 11am, are ongoing."
