An old school site is currently occupied by the Tauranga Special School satellite and a before and after school facility, however in the future there are no plans.

People are asking what is going to be done with the Brookfield School site since the school’s move.

Te Kura o Manunui – previously named Brookfield School – welcomed its students onto its new campus in January.

The 20 Millers Rd site has now been left purposeless since the move of Te Kura o Manunui into a new and improved school down the hill at 72 Millers Rd.

The growing roll of students meant the previous site wasn’t big enough to accommodate the school.

The new school has 25 classrooms with 320 students enrolled as of the start of 2024, whereas the previous school site had 290 students within only 17 classrooms.

The previous school site is now left purposeless.

“The front portion of the former Brookfield (Te Kura o Manunui) School site is being occupied by the Tauranga Special School satellite and a before and after school facility,” says Ministry of Education infrastructure and digital leader (Hautū) Scott Evans.

“The back portion of the site is being managed by Colliers on behalf of the Ministry to ensure the site is maintained.

“The transportable buildings on the back portion of the site will be relocated as needed to schools requiring short-term roll growth teaching spaces.”

However, overall, “No decision has yet been made on the site’s future,” says Scott.
