Ōtūmoetai College principal Russell Gordon is setting the record straight after reports have been coming in of disorder at Ōtūmoetai College.

A SunLive reader contacted the SunLive newsroom saying that there were a bunch of school students that had arrived in cars at Ōtūmoetai College and were engaging in phyiscal altercations.

They then said the school went into a lockdown.

Russell would like to assure the community that the school did not go into lockdown.

"Students from another local school arrived during lunchtime and were running along Windsor Road which is quite visible to students on the field.

"They never entered the property.

"There has been allegations that there was fighting, nothing occured.

"There was a significant staff presence, the police were called and senior leadership of the school involved arrived and collected a number of students.

"We called our lunch earlier and so the students went into class, but there was no lockdown and there was no fighting."

Russell says the leadership team of the other school acted quickly and came to collect the students and they will deal with those students as is appropriate.

"The students have been identified and those identities will be shared with the school so that they can follow through with their procedures."
