On Saturday, 13 April Whakamarama Community Centre is once again hosting a market dedicated to young sellers and entrepreneurs.

Sellers of primary, intermediate and college age will be tempting visitors with everything from quality second items and baking to handcrafted gifts for home and garden.

"The response to the market has been amazing, we have some many talented young people in our community and this market is a way that Whakamarama Community Centre can support with these young entrepreneurs by providing them with a safe marketplace to show their community what they can offer, and they are able to make some money in time for the school holidays," says organiser Debbie Allan.

"The community is buzzing with excitement and anticipation of what these young sellers have on offer."

Students of Primary through to College age from around Tauranga and Western Bay will be offering more than just toys and cupcakes as these young sellers are taking the opportunity to hone their creative talents making handmade gifts for the home and garden.

David Allan, 12 year old, a year 8 student of  Whakamarama School has taken advantage of the plentiful Feijoa season making jams and chutneys to sell at the market.

Also of Whakamarama School, year 7 student and piano player Meera Sahil, will entertain visitors to the market.  Those who came to our market last September will remember the delightful music from this talented piano player.

Talented sisters Maddy and Isla Mills have been busy handcrafting gifts to sell, Maddy from Pahoia School creates small felted animals in matchboxes while.older sister Isla of Bethlehem College makes hair scrunchies.

Whakamarama Kids Market are also proud to host a group of year 5 and 6 students from Greenpark School in Greerton who are heading to Seoul, South Korea in August for a Culture Exchange.

This group of students are all very excited about their adventure, where they learn lots about another culture and have many new experiences.

To help make this happen though, they need to fundraise, they will do this by selling local Honey and sausage sizzle at the market.

The funds raised will go directly to fund their cultural exchange to Korea.

For more information about the sellers head to the Whakamarama Kids Market Facebook event page.
