The Pāpāmoa Food Hub has received a significant boost with the announcement of PAK’nSAVE Pāpāmoa as their newest Platinum Partners.

This collaboration underscores the commitment of local businesses to supporting the community initiative, with the supermarket’s owners Rob and Lisa McGregor proud to take this step in supporting their own community.

The Pāpāmoa Food Hub, established to address the void left by the closure of Pāpāmoa Family Services, is a beacon of hope for families in need, says the organisation’s founder Bruce Banks.

“Rob and Lisa’s generous donation of food will have a profound impact on the community,” says Bruce.

“By providing fresh food, dairy, meat, fruits, and vegetables to add to the food items already in stock at the Food Hub, they aim to enhance the well-being of Pāpāmoa residents who rely on food parcels.

Rob McGregor, whose family legacy in the grocery industry spans generations, brings a wealth of experience to this partnership.

PAK’nSAVE Pāpāmoa was officially opened by former Tauranga mayor Stuart Crosby on September 14, 2010. The supermarket is almost 7,000sqm in size and situated on the corner of Domain and Gravatt Roads in Pāpāmoa.

Bruce says that from having worked at his father’s New World Te Kuiti store from age 10, it's fair to say Rob’s commitment to community welfare is unwavering.

“When he assumed ownership of PAK’nSAVE Pāpāmoa, he continued this legacy, creating as many as 170 new jobs for the local community,” says Bruce.

He says the Pāpāmoa Food Hub’s mission aligns perfectly with Rob and Lisa’s values.

“Their contribution will not only alleviate immediate hunger but also empower recipients through cooking classes that are expected to start in the future.

“Each food parcel will include our own recipe cards, ensuring that families can prepare balanced, nutritious meals.”

Rob is pleased and enthusiastic about the partnership.

“We believe in giving back to the community that has supported us,” says Rob.

“The Pāpāmoa Food Hub’s impact has already been remarkable, reducing food poverty for over 200 Pāpāmoa residents.”

Bruce says they are very grateful to Rob and Lisa for their commitment to making a difference, enhancing access to fresh food, and fostering a sustainable food ecosystem in the heart of Pāpāmoa.

“Their generosity will continue to uplift lives and foster resilience within the community,” says Bruce.

Pāpāmoa Food Hub provides a unique food support model that feeds a family of four for at least three days. It includes everything for breakfast, lunch, dinner and even dessert, and a few treats.

The food parcel model can be adapted for both larger and smaller families.
