Waihi Ladies held a most successful open Tournament on Friday, May 17, in ideal conditions both on the course, and also the weather.
With a total field of 68 players, the organisers were pleased to include 37 players from other clubs.
The Tournament Winner with the best gross was Robyn Pellow from Ngaruawahia who scored an 85 gross. Other winners were in Division one nett, was Shannon Richards with 69 nett, and in Division two Jenny Gallaugher who had a 72 nett.
The Division one Stableford winner was Karen Lee with 37 points, and division two, Rosemary Heaton on 36 points.
MONDAY MORNING VETS:
This week, May 13-19, the competition was the third round, of four for the Nett Medal Title.
Monday started in ideal conditions, except for a chilling breeze.
The best nett of the day was scored by Viv Lilley with a fine nett 67, Next were Alex Standfield and Eddie Bruce who both scored nett 69’s, while Gary Choat and Dot Ramsey both had 70’s, and Neil Walker was next on 71.
With one round to go for the Nett Title, Kerry Lewis has a narrow lead for the men, while Viv Lilley is leading the Ladies field.

TUESDAY NINE HOLE SECTION:
The mixed stableford haggle this week was won by Michelle Bonnici with 23 points, while Helen Brady was second with 21 points.
Next was John Vautier with 20, then Tina Berg on 18, with Margaret Meldrum, Lorraine Meyer, Chris Mercer, Glen Bennett, and Jill Mason, all finishing with 17 points.
WEDNESDAY LADIES:
Club day was cancelled due to weather.
THURSDAY MEN:
With continuous drizzle all morning, only a small field braved the elements for the morning haggle.
Daryll Denyer had the top score with38 points, well ahead of Pete Rowe on 35, and Tom Rowbotham on 34 points. Interestingly in a small field there were 5 twos recorded.
Clearing skies meant a larger afternoon field, with Mark Hope scoring 37 points winning over John Taylor, Jonathan Clare, and Pete Spiers, all with 35 points.
Then Alex Standfield, Peter Bramble, Mal Coldicutt, and Mark Hume all finished with 34 points. Malcolm Coldicutt had the only two.
SATURDAY LADIES:
Contested a stableford haggle this week.
The clear winner with 40 points was Shelly Lithgow, followed by Salley Grindlay on 38. Karen May had 37, and Sharon Deacon 36. Shelly Lithgow won the Hidden Hole pool with 9 points
SATURDAY MEN:
One of the premier trophies for the men is the Ludwig Cup, which is for the four-ball best ball stableford competition.
This came down to the final two pairings playing off this week, and it proved to be a triumph for Tim Parish and Norm Sanderson who finally overcame Murray Fraser and Eddie Evans by 3 and 2.
Morning Haggle: In ideal weather conditions, it was a tight contest with Ross Sayer and Eddie Bruce both having 39 points. They were closely followed by Daryll Denyer and Sam Gurney with 37, while Tom Rowbotham had 36. Bryce Bevin had 35, with Rodger Bagshaw and Grant Robson both on 34.
Afternoon Haggle; The clear winner was David P. Campbell with the round of the day 41 points, with Gary Choat next on 38. Next was Mal Coldicutt on 36, with Paul Williams, Peter Dagg, and Andy Roche, all had 34 points, while Frankie Van Hattum, Alan Kurtovich, and Trevor Coombes all had 33.
