The King and Queen of the point returns to Manu Bay this weekend, rounding out a stacked domestic New Zealand Surf Series for 2024.

The three-day King and Queen of the Point will take place May 24-26 with a massive schedule of surfing including both the Open Men and Women divisions, the return of the hotly contested U20 divisions, Guided Meditation on Saturday morning,

A meet and greet with the pros, the Quiksilver Expression Session and the Roxy Party, are happening at The Yard on Saturday night. The official Party of the King and Queen of the Point will be headlined by Dj Shimmy (Dimity Stoyle) and supported by Hutch. 

With the long-range forecast pointing to a solid building 1- 2m swell and offshore/cross offshore winds swinging and strengthening throughout the weekend the 2024 King & Queen of the Point presented by Quiksilver, Roxy and Backdoor promises to conclude the 2024 season with a bang. 

Around 160 participants will descend upon Raglan from throughout New Zealand and Australia, battling it out across the four divisions and in the Quiksilver Expression Session. The allure of Manu Bay just too good to turn down for New Zealand’s finest surfing talent.

The long Manu Bay walls has again attracted New Zealand’s top Open Men’s surfers including Top seeded surfers Jarrod Hancox (Taranaki) and Taylor Hutchison (Mnt), Jack Hinton(Mnt),  Callum Chuter (Mnt), the stylish Luke Griffin and 2 times Olympian and Raglans own super star, Billy Stairmand.

Local Raglan surfers are jumping at the chance to surf their home break with Tom Robinson, Kora Cooper, Navryn Malone, Luke Hughes, Tana Clapham, Mikey Banks, Chris Malone, Larry Fisher and the infamous Luke Cederman registered to compete. 

Adding to the draw will see a host of Quiksilver and Roxy team riders led by New Zealand’s own Kehu Butler. A jam-packed weekend of surfing action will also include a signing session with Tom Carroll, Kehu Butler, Joel Vaughan, Dimity Stoyle, Jesse Starling and Coco Cairns on Friday.

Sunrise meditation will take place on Saturday morning 7am with 2x World Champion and Australian legend Tom Carroll. Saturday night is the official Party of the King and Queen of the Point held at The Yard with Dimity Stoyle Aka Dj Shimmy and Mini Hutch on the decks. Doors open from 6pm and this is an R18 event.

As well as international stars, top Kiwi females including Aimee Brown(GBI), Estella Hungerford(Chch),Elin Tawharu (Mnt) , Ariana Shewry (Tara) and Liv Haysom (Piha) will look to take the coveted title off returning Queen of the point, 2023 champion and Raglan local, Brie Bennett.

The Under 20 Boys and Girls Divisions return in 2024 allowing those juniors coming to the end of their junior careers and just at the start, a chance at achieving further accolades. Tao Mouldey, Joe Goodjohn (Mnt), Jai Wallis (Piha), Tyler Stenzel (Mnt), Sol Fritchley (Mnt), Manu Roberts (Wgm) and Cooper Ashill (OB) are just some of the 48 strong field of groms ready to take on New Zealands premier break.

The Local Raglan groms will be eager to impress with Tana Clapham, Theo Morse, Luke Dymond, Luca Thompson, Van Camenzind, Indi Corcoran and Xander Banks jumping at the rare opportunity to compete in this division at their home break. 

New Zealand Junior Surfing Teammates Spencer Rowson and Tai Murphy alongside Alani Morse, Poppy Arkle and Lola Groube in the Under 20 Girls, will also make an appearance fresh off their World Junior Surfing Champs campaign to El Salvador.

They will be eager to use their World Junior Championship experience in home waters which will be in stark contrast to 30 degree water and long right handers that they surfed in El Salvador. 

The King and Queen of the Point presented by Quiksilver, Roxy and Backdoor starts on Friday May 24 and concludes on Sunday, May 26 with surfing taking place daily from 8am-5pm at Manu Bay.
