The University of Waikato Tauranga Campus is hosting the Tauranga Innovative Education Summit on Monday, June 24.
The inaugural summit, themed "Opportunities for Educators with Artificial Intelligence," is set to be a groundbreaking event, bringing together local educators and world-renowned academics.
The summit - a collaborative effort between Mount Maunganui College, the University of Waikato, and Priority One - aims to explore the vast potential of artificial intelligence in enhancing educational practices.
It also hopes to promote Tauranga as a hub of innovative potential within the national education context.
Attendees will have the unique opportunity to engage in bite-sized workshops led by Tauranga-based educators, as well as to hear from the Director of the Artificial Intelligence Institute at the University of Waikato.
"This event is a great opportunity for educators to explore practical, professional and ethical ways that they may be able to use AI in their context" says Mr Alastair Sinton, Tumuaki / Principal at Mount Maunganui College.
Organiser of the event, Mr Richard Cameron says that "We are excited to showcase the innovative capacities, experiences and opportunities presented by local educators and their academic counterparts.
"This summit is for educators and those with a vested interest in the future of education."
Professor Albert Bifet will deliver the keynote address and participate in a panel discussion with educators, students and local business leaders.
Director of the Te Ipu o te Mahara AI Institute at University of Waikato, and Professor of Big Data at Data, Intelligence and Graphs LTCI, Télécom Paris, IP Paris, Albert will share practical tips and future possibilities for teachers.
The summit schedule features a series of keynote speeches, interactive sessions, and practical workshops designed to provide insights into the practical applications of AI in education.
These sessions are crafted to inspire educators to implement innovative AI tools and strategies in their teaching methodologies, enhancing learning outcomes for students across all educational stages.
Educators and professionals attending the summit will gain valuable insights into the current trends and future possibilities of AI in education, empowering them to transform their teaching practices and foster a more engaging learning environment for their students.
