Three car crash on SH29A

Emergency services were called to the crash earlier this morning.

UPDATE: 7.51AM: An earlier crash on or near Maungatapu Bridge on SH29A has been cleared, reports NZTA.

Motorists are being advised to allow extra time as delays on SH29A in both directions through this area ease.

UPDATE 7.13AM: Emergency services are at the scene of a three cat crash on SH29A.

Police were called to the crash, between the Maungatapu Road on-ramp and Truman Lane, at 6.20am.

A police spokesperson says one car has rolled and both lanes of the bridge were blocked.

"Four people were injured – two with minor injuries and two with moderate injuries.

"At 6.40am the job notes that the eastbound lane was being opened."

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

EARLIER:

A crash is being reported on Maungatapu Bridge.

An alert from NZTA says that both directions of SH29A are blocked at the moment.

"Due to a crash on or near Maungatapu Bridge, delays should be expected in both directions through this area," reports the roading agency.

"Follow directions of response crews."
