Hundreds of people are expected to flock again today to see the best of New Zealand's Lego builders at Bricks of Plenty's BoPEx24 Lego Expo.

This weekend, Mercury Baypark is buzzing with excitement as hundreds of enthusiasts are drawn to see the creations made from the iconic building blocks.

The two-day event, held on June 22-23, is showcasing the creativity and craftsmanship of all ages, making it a must-see for families and fans.

Visitors are being treated to an array of intricate and imaginative displays, featuring everything from cityscapes to whimsical fantasy scenes and interactive exhibits.

The event is highlighting the talents of both seasoned Lego builders and rising stars, with exhibitors traveling from Auckland, Hamilton and Wellington as well as Hawke’s Bay Lego Masters NZ finalist Jono Samson.

“I love seeing the creativity shown in Lego,” says Bricks of Plenty Lego User Group president Jesse Ingham.

“Everyone has a different take on how they imagine their Lego creations, and I love seeing them all together in one place.”

Visitors to the expo today will see huge Lego sculptures including a recreation of the city of Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings and a 4m-long scale model of a World War II ship.

It's clear that exhibitors have put in countless hours to bring their creations to life, with the crowds appreciating their hard work.

In addition to the displays BoPEx24 features hands-on building areas where children can unleash their creativity.

“This is our first year holding a standalone show," says Jesse.

"Previously, our events have been in conjunction with local primary schools."

BoPEx24 is the biggest brick show in the Bay of Plenty this year and Jesse hopes they will gain new members.

There is also new and second-hand Lego available for sale.

The event is raising money for the Tauranga Hospital children’s ward and Kidz Need Dadz, which helps BOP fathers to play an active part in their children’s lives.

BoPEx24 is at Mercury BayPark Stadium, 10am-5pm, on June 22-23 with a sensory hour on Sunday, June 23, from 9-10am. Entry $5 is per person, and under-threes gain free entry.
