Fire and emergency are currently responding to a campervan fire in Gate Pā. 

A fire and emergence spokesperson says they responded with two fire trucks to a campervan fire in the Gate Pā area at 12.16pm.

"When we arrived, we found one campervan well ablaze and worked to extinguish that fire. 

"We're still onsite working to extinguish the fire and we have a fire investigator attending."

SunLive reporter Hunter Wells says he could see a pool of black smoke from the Mount side of Tauranga Harbour.

"I was just coming past Ballance towards the bridge and could see the smoke rising above the city."
