Te Puke Sports will have their sights on collecting the Baywide double, by adding the AR Plus Premier title to their first round crown, after they booked a finals berth in Saturday's semi-finals.
Te Puke Sports opponent will be Greerton Marist which sneaked home by a solitary point against Tauranga Sports.
Te Puke Pirates scored an early try before Whakarewarewa came back with a converted try and three penalties, to lead 16-7 after 25 minutes.
The hosts then ran in two converted touchdowns with the clock showing a narrow 21-16 lead at the break.
The second spell belonged to Te Puke Sports, who posted an additional 19 points to the visitors penalty, with the home side taking out a 40-19 victory. Te Puke fullback, Fletcher Carpenter two tries, saw him set a new club premier record of 19 touchdowns (from just 12 games) during the premier competition.
An extremely tight contest took place at Greerton Park where Greerton Marist were looking to make their first Baywide premier final.
Standing in their way was nine-time Baywide titleholders, Tauranga Sports.
Tauranga Sports laid down their credentials in the first half and led 10-6 at the halfway stage of the encounter.
The visitors grabbed a 15-6 lead in the second half, before Greerton Marist came back with a converted try to Co Captain Junior Matautia, to bring the score back to 15-13.
With ten minutes to go Junior kicked a penalty to give his side a paper-thin one point advantage.
Tauranga Sports could only watch as two penalty attempts sailed by the post in the dying minutes of the encounter.
It was an extremely even contest, with the final score of Greerton Marist 16 Tauranga Sports 15, reflecting the closeness of the match.
Mount Maunganui earned a home ground playoff in the Colts/Under 85kg title decider after beating Papamoa 60-16. Papamoa were right in the fight in the first spell in trailing by 13 with the scoreboard showing 29-16 at the break.
The Mount Maunganui age-group side put their foot to the pedal in the second forty minutes to add another 31 points and keep their opponents scoreless.
Te Puna will travel to Blake Park to square off with Mount Maunganui after they got past Greerton Marist by five points.
Greerton led by eight unanswered points at halftime, before Te Puna fought back to take out the encounter 13-8. The championship deciding contest is a replay of last season’s final taken out by Mount Maunganui.
Greerton Marist and Mount Maunganui will decide the Western Bay of Plenty Championship after progressing from the top four playoffs.
Greerton dispatched Tauranga Sports 16-10, while Mount Maunganui beat defending titleholders Te Puna 15 nil.
