Two Tauranga men are due to appear in court after being arrested following a physical dispute.
Tauranga Police have arrested two men following a disorder incident at a large community gathering last weekend.
About 5.30pm on Saturday August 24, Police were notified of a physical dispute involving a number of people, on Cheyne Road, Pyes Pa.
"Two Tauranga men were arrested," says a police spokesperson.
"A 39-year-old has been charged with assault, while a 44-year-old has been charged with wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm."
They are due to appear in the Tauranga District Court on September 5.
Police are continuing to investigate the incident and more arrests are expected.
"We would like to thank those people who have been in touch with information, but would still like to speak with anyone who has details or footage of the incident who hasn’t yet been in contact with us," says a police spokesperson.

I used to believe the Sikh community was a loving caring faith.
No longer!
Yes we are all human, flawed with human emotions that get the better of us. But as soon as one raises a hand to another, especially when there's a weapon in it, you have lost the argument.
And, sadly, you have lost my respect.
