The Third Culture Film Festival is set to host a special red-carpet screening of GRAFTED, a highly anticipated black comedy directed by Bafta-nominated filmmaker Sasha Rainbow.
The R16 event will take place on November 12 at United Cinemas Bayfair, featuring a unique opportunity for attendees to engage with the film’s award-winning writer, Lee Murray.
The evening begins with a red-carpet mixer at 7pm, followed by the screening at 7.30pm. GRAFTED tells the darkly humorous story of a Chinese student who discovers a sinister method to gain popularity – through body-snatching.
The night will culminate in an exclusive Q&A session with Murray at 9.30pm, where she will share insights into the film’s production and its underlying themes.
“I’m thrilled to be part of this special screening hosted by the Third Culture Film Festival,” said Murray. “I can’t wait to see the reaction to the film here in the Bay, so if you like your creepy stories with a side dose of social commentary, I’d love to see you there.”
Harry Oram, CEO of TCFF, expressed excitement about the festival’s milestone.
“We are thrilled to present our first-ever ‘featured feature,’ marking an important milestone for TCFF as we celebrate films created in New Zealand or showcasing Kiwi talent,” Oram said.
“Supporting Lee Murray in bringing GRAFTED to the festival is a true honour, and we’re excited to share a story that embodies TCFF’s commitment to diversity and amplifying underrepresented voices.
“With GRAFTED, Sasha Rainbow crafts a distinctly New Zealand blend of horror and comedy, and we’re eager to bring this cinematic achievement to Tauranga. This screening is more than a film; it’s a chance to connect with our creative community, hear directly from an acclaimed screenwriter, and highlight the rising influence of Kiwi filmmakers on the global stage.”
This one-night-only event promises a celebration of local talent and a unique experience in Kiwi horror cinema. Attendees are encouraged to walk the red carpet and partake in this exclusive film experience.
The Third Culture Film Festival is dedicated to amplifying diverse voices and innovative storytelling, providing a platform for filmmakers to connect with audiences worldwide.
