Waipuna Hospice has appointed David Bryant as its new chief executive officer, replacing Becky Gardiner, the interim CEO.

“I have always admired Hospice for the amazing work it does for our community, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to become part of the team,” Bryant said.

Byrant brings a plethora of financial, revenue-building, change management and risk experience, Waipuna Hospice’s board chair, Debbie Pattullo, said.

“We are confident that David’s leadership will help guide us into a new era of community-focused hospice care in challenging financial times.”

With this appointment, Waipuna Hospice is reframing hospice care for the Tauranga and Western Bay of Plenty communities.

Patullo said they owe a huge thank you to Gardiner, who stepped in as interim CEO while the company searched for a permanent leader.

“Becky’s dedication and expertise have been invaluable, and we are grateful for her continued support. I am also excited to announce that she will continue with Waipuna Hospice in a new senior leadership role, chief people & engagement officer.”

Gardiner, who has been with Waipuna Hospice for over 10 years, said she was looking forward to this next chapter.

“It has been such a privilege to step in as interim CEO and ensure that our patients and their whānau continued to receive the care and support they deserved during this transitional period.”

“[Waipuna Hospice] holds a special place in my heart, and I feel honoured to be part of an organisation that positively impacts many lives.”

It's sad to think of death as being a business, but let's hope that we will all see a benefit from appointing a business approach to a charitable organisation.
We will continue to contribute.
