Road closures will be in place in Arataki on Sunday to allow for safety for hundreds of kiwi kids participating in the Sanitarium Weet-Bix Kids TRYathlon at Arataki Park.

The annual Sanitarium Wee-Bix Kids TRYathlon encourages kiwi kids of all sporting abilities, aged between 6 and 15 years, to get out and give it a TRY! Kids can enter either as an individual or as part of a team of two.

The event will begin with the swim leg in the indoor pool at Baywave TECT Aquatic & Leisure Centre. The bike leg is around the streets surrounding Arataki Park, and the run leg is around Arataki Park itself.

Temporary traffic management measures will be in place to support participant safety along the course route.

Road closure will be in place from 5am - 2pm fpr Monowai Street, from Grenada Street to Gloucester Road, affecting access to Bedford Place, Marwood Place and Ngarimu Place. The roads will open earlier if possible.

Residents will be able to enter/exit Monowai Street with assistance from onsite traffic controllers.

Lane closures will be in place from 5am - 2pm for:

  • Gloucester Road (east bound lane only – from Monowai Street to Hibiscus Avenue)
  • Grenada Street (west bound lane only – from Hibiscus Avenue to Monowai Street)
  • Hibiscus Avenue (north bound lane only – from Gloucester Road to Grenada Street)

A one-way system will be in place around Gloucester Road, Hibiscus Avenue and Grenada Street to ensure that resident access is maintained, and these roads will be reopened earlier if possible.

Parking restrictions will be in place in and around Arataki Park from today through until 2pm tomorrow, Sunday,  December 1.
