Body recovered from Pāpāmoa Beach

UPDATE: Police have recovered the body of a person from the water off Pāpāmoa Beach Road, in Pāpāmoa.

A member of the public discovered the person in the water around 12.45pm, said a police spokesperson in a statement to SunLive.

"A formal identification process is underway and may take some time.

"Enquiries are ongoing and Police are unable to comment further at this time."

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson says they were notified of an incident at Pāpāmoa Beach at 12:43pm.

"One ambulance and two operations managers attended."

EARLIER:

Reports are coming in of an emergency response on Pāpāmoa Beach this afternoon.

A caller to the 0800 SUNLIVE news hotline says there are fire, police and ambulance down on the beach, just down from Domain Road.

"It looks quite intense."

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson says they were notified of an incident at Pāpāmoa Beach at 12:43pm.

"One ambulance and two operations managers attended."
