Update 12.13pm: State Highway 25 has reopened following a house fire on Tairua Road, Whangamata, this morning.
Six people are in hospital following a house fire in Whangamatā.
A St John’s Ambulance spokesperson told RNZ that one ambulance was sent, and six people with minor injuries were taken to the hospital.

State Highway 25 was closed between Brenton Place and Smartway Sewage due to a house fire on Tairua Road, Whangamata.
A detour via Port Road, Heatherington Road and Harry Watt Drive was in place.
Fire and Emergency New Zealand were alerted to the fire at 4.41am with 12 crews attending.
“The fire was well involved when we arrived and went to a third alarm level,” a Fire and Emergency Spokesperson said.

Brigades from Whangamata, Onemana-Opoutere, Waihi, Whiritoa, Pauanui, Tairua and Paeroa attended.
“Crews are dampening hotspots and leaving the scene now,” the spokesperson said.
