Police have confirmed a jetskier missing on Lake Taupō was found dead by the Police Dive Squad on Monday afternoon.
"Police offer condolences to the family and friends of the deceased," a spokesperson said.
"We wish to thank all involved in the search including members of the public, Harbourmaster and Coastguard, and to thank Tuwharetoa Māori Trust Board and hapu who assisted whānau during the search."
Senior Sergeant Andy Livingstone said Taupō police received a report aabout 12.40pm on Sunday of a person or people in trouble on a jetski.
"While one person and the jetski made it to shore with assistance from Police and Taupō Coastguard, a second person sadly did not, and was last seen struggling in the water."
He said Tūwharetoa Maori Trust Board had been advised and hapū were helping support those involved.

On Sunday evening, a Nukuhau Marae spokesperson posted a message to their Facebook page.
"Kia hiwa rā! Kia hiwa rā! At approximately 8.45pm, Sunday 19 January 2025 a rāhui was placed from the pūau down past Paenoa Te Ākau to Te Moenga Bay Boat Ramp near the Acacia Bay shops as per the orange area on the map below.
"The rāhui was enacted due to an accident on the wai today. We will work with the whānau pani and the police to determine the length of the rāhui. Please observe the rāhui and refrain from swimming, fishing or kai gathering in the marked area until further notice. Those who are on the water searching please come back to shore."
A rāhui will remain in place in the Nukuhau / Acacia Bay area of the lake for the next few days and an update is expected to be issued when it is lifted.
The death has been referred to the coroner.
