State Highway 2 through the Waioweka Gorge will be closed for three days next week but opening again in the evenings.

Asphalt resurfacing and other maintenance work will be taking place in Waioweka Gorge from Monday February 24 to Wednesday February 26.

 A full closure will be in place from 10am until 6pm each day between Kerei St, Matawai and Warrington Rd, Opotiki.

"Please plan your journey accordingly," an NZTA spokesperson said.

"Expect significant delays during the road closure."
