Tauranga’s best neighbourhood revealed soon

The winning street will be treated to an unforgettable celebration featuring live music, street food, entertainment, and plenty of good vibes.

A Tauranga Street is set to win a celebration as public voting opens to decide the city’s most community-spirited neighbourhood.

Good Neighbour has announced the top five finalists in its street competition after receiving over 40 nominations showcasing Tauranga’s strongest community connections.

The initiative, part of the nationwide Neighbour’s Day celebrations, aims to highlight the importance of knowing and supporting those who live nearby.

The shortlisted streets are Carlton St in Bellevue, Myres St in Otūmoetai, Forrester Drive in Welcome Bay, Butterworth Crescent in Pāpāmoa, and Leander St in Mount Maunganui.

Each has demonstrated a commitment to fostering friendships, offering support, and creating a welcoming neighbourhood atmosphere.

Choosing the finalists was difficult due to the overwhelming number of heart-warming nominations, said Good Neighbour general manager Renee Hanna.

“There is such a great sense of community in our city… but now it’s up to the people of Tauranga to decide which street gets to party!” Hanna said.

The winning street will be treated to an unforgettable celebration featuring live music, street food, entertainment, and plenty of good vibes.

Voting is now open on Good Neighbour’s Facebook page, with the public able to cast their votes until Sunday, March 23.

The winning street will be announced on Monday, March 24, and those who participate in the voting process will also go into the draw for spot prizes.

The competition is part of a broader effort to encourage neighbourly connections across the country, reinforcing the idea that strong communities make for happier, safer neighbourhoods.

We built one of the first houses in Carlton Street and others that built became good friends and neighbours. Good to see it still going strong after all these years.
