A section of State Highway 29 is closed after a tree fell, blocking the road.

The tree is blocking SH29 at the Waiomou Stream Bridge between SH24 and Stopford Rd in Te Poi, said an NZTA spokesperson. 

"This section of SH29 is closed.

Follow directions of response crews in the area and allow extra time for a detour."
