Police are making inquiries after a person was seriously injured in a fight in Katikati overnight, with the alleged offenders fleeing the scene in a vehicle.

A person suffered serious injuries after a fight at a premises on Main Rd, a police spokesperson said.

Police responded around midnight to the fracas but those involved in the fight had already left the area in a vehicle.

“Enquiries are ongoing to identify and locate those believed to be responsible.”

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said they responded with one ambulance and one rapid response manager.

“One patient was transported to Tauranga Hospital in a serious condition.”
