A man is due to appear in court today after being arrested on Sunday following a disorder in Whakatāne.

Police said one person was taken to hospital.

Another person was arrested after a disorder at an address on Paul St, said police.

“The arrested man, aged 34, will be appearing in Whakatane District Court today.

"He is charged with possession of an offensive weapon.”
