A light truck has rolled on SH36 near Hamurana, blocking both lanes and causing delays between Te Matai and Dudley roads.

Emergency services are at the scene of the crash, which happened at 9.45am on Friday.

Police said one person has been taken to Rotorua Hospital with serious injuries, a police spokesperson said

“The road is partially blocked, and police are in attendance.”

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said it sent an ambulance and rapid response vehicle.

No person was trapped, a Fire and Emergency New Zealand spokesperson said.

“We have since left the scene.”

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi has issued a road hazard alert, warning drivers to expect delays and take extra care in the area.

Both directions are affected, and there is no estimated time for resolution.

Motorists are advised to follow the directions of emergency services.
