One person was taken to hospital following a motor vehicle incident on State Highway 2 at Aongatete, near Katikati.

Police were notified of a single vehicle crash involving a motorcycle near Sharp Road at around 2.30pm.

"A person fell off a motorcycle on SH 2 near Sharp Road," police said.

"Hato Hone St John was notified of a motor vehicle incident on SH 2, Aongatete, at  2.24 today," a spokesperson said.

"Two ambulances and one rapid response unit attended.

"One patient, in moderate condition, was transported to Tauranga Hospital."
