Hundreds of people are still without power following wild weather over the weekend.

Powerco crews worked through the night and continue repairs today after gale-force winds over the weekend caused widespread damage to the electricity network across the North Island.

As of midday Tuesday, 320 customers remain without power, with outages including both storm-related and new incidents, said a statement from Powerco.

Since Saturday, more than 15,500 customers have experienced power disruptions of varying durations.

“For those without power - we are unable to provide restoration times, but our crews are working as quickly and safely to restore your power. Thank you for your continued patience and understanding.”

what about all those freezers full of food and your insurance excess of $500 - $1000 who reimburses you for the excess...no one so great out of pocket to consumers again.

Power outages ... shrug

Your insurance excess can pay for a small generator, as a reasonable one may be just $700. With forethought, it could be a group purchase such as extended family, small club, or friends. Murphy's Law can get into the equation, although up against nature, Murphy often looses - so get a generator. There is no "Sucker Who Inc." out there handing out reimbursements to the unprepared. Life sucks.
Storms have nothing to do with PowerCo's liability, yet who praises the lineMEN out there in atrocious conditions with chainsaws and cranes?
