10 weeks of roadworks on SH2 near Pukehina

The works are expected to take around 10 weeks to complete.

Drivers are being warned to prepare for delays on State Highway 2 near Pukehina next week.

Starting October 6, rebuilding works are set begin near Rogers Rd.

NZ Transport Agency Waka Kotahi said the initial phase includes vegetation clearing and removing topsoil and grass from the road shoulders.

“The rebuild worksite is about 1.3km long, starting west of Rogers Rd. The process involves digging out the existing road layers and replacing them layer by layer, followed by surfacing, sweeping and line marking,” the roading agency said in a statement this week.

Work will take place Monday to Friday from 6am to 6pm and was expected to take around 10 weeks to complete, weather permitting.

Stop/go traffic management would be in place for the duration of the work.

“Drivers are advised to plan for possible delays while the work is ongoing,” said NZTA.
