Forget bedtime routines and nappy changes — on November 22, Tauranga’s mums are being invited to let loose at Mumraves, a series of free, alcohol-free pop-up dance parties designed exclusively for mothers.
Taking over the Tauranga Waterfront from 2pm to 8pm, the high-energy event offers six one-hour sessions where up to 40 mums at a time can dance, connect, and reclaim a moment just for themselves.
“Perinatal mental health is the most common complication of pregnancy and suicide remains the leading cause of maternal mortality in NZ,” said The Village NZ head of marketing Larissa Allen.
“Access and equity to education and support remain key gaps for families throughout the perinatal period. The Village NZ is uniquely positioned to bridge these.”
The Village NZ is a free online hub dedicated to connecting mums to support through the first 1000 days of motherhood.
Allen said motherhood often meant putting yourself last and Mumraves was about giving mums a moment to celebrate themselves and feel good again.
Mums are invited to come alone or bring a group of friends and enjoy an hour of dance with DJ’s AX¿S (aka Rachel Axis-Taane) & Salty Chops (aka Emma Sultan).
Each session includes a complimentary non-alcoholic drink on arrival, spot prizes, and a goodie bag.
Mumraves is part of The Village NZ’s nationwide launch, bringing mums together not just for fun, but to highlight the importance of improved maternal health in NZ.
