Ōpōtiki workplace incident, critical injuries

One person appeared to have been seriously injured.

A critically injured person has been airlifted to hospital after a workplace incident in Ōpotiki, Bay of Plenty.

The incident was reported at a Waioeka Rd address about 12.15pm, a police media spokeswoman said.

She said one person appeared to have been seriously injured.

A WorkSafe spokesperson said they had been notified of an incident near Ōpōtiki today.

“We are currently making inquiries to understand the circumstances of this incident.”

A Hato Hone St John spokesperson said one patient, in a critical condition, had been airlifted to Waikato Hospital.

A helicopter, ambulance and rapid response unit were sent to the scene.
