After Hastings turned up the heat with sunshine, big energy, and even bigger bombs at the Havelock North Village Pool, it’s Tauranga’s turn to shine.
The Bay of Plenty will host the final North Island qualifier for the Z Manu World Champs 2026 this Saturday, December 13, and expectations are sky-high.
Coming off the back of an electrifying opening event in Dunedin and a record-breaking day in Hastings, Tauranga is ready to bring its own flavour to the championship.
Local hopefuls will be lining up for their shot at glory and a coveted automatic spot in the Grand Final in Auckland in March, where they’ll represent the region on the towering seven-metre Manu platform.
Event director Scott Rice said Tauranga is the perfect place to wrap up the 2025 qualifiers.
“The atmosphere in Hastings was incredible, and we know Tauranga will deliver the same energy – if not more.
“The Bay has a strong manu culture, and we’re expecting some serious talent to come through.
“If the first two qualifiers are anything to go by, this weekend is going to be huge.”
Last year, more than 2000 jumpers competed nationwide, with 130 finalists making it to Auckland’s Viaduct for the ultimate showdown.
This year’s Tauranga event promises fierce competition across adult, youth and junior divisions – plus plenty of fun for spectators.
So grab your sunnies, bring the hype and get ready to cheer on the Bay’s best bombers as they take the plunge.
The road to Auckland – and manu glory – runs through Tauranga this weekend.
