The Waitomo Petrol Station forecourt in Pāpāmoa is being cordoned after a diesel spill.

Firefighters were called to the scene just before 8am.

Fire and Emergency New Zealand northern fire communications shift manager Josh Pennefather said it has been reported as “one large diesel spill”.

“It is covering two lanes of the forecourt.

“We have trucks from Mount Maunganui, Pāpāmoa and Greerton, as well as the hazardous materials unit from Greerton.”

Pennefather said firefighters are cordoning off the forecourt and waiting for a Waitomo representative to arrive on scene.
