Two Tauranga playgrounds will be closed from today for renovation works.
The playground at Beaumaris Boulevard will be temporarily closed from today while City Care renew the safety surface at the reserve.
The Gordon Spratt playground will also be closed for re-painting from Monday, April 8.
Tauranga City Council reports the playground will be fully fenced off and not accessible to the public for seven days while this is happening.

City Parks
- The Sydenham Botanic Park Advisory Group are planning a Daffodil Planting Day, Sunday 14 April, 10am - 1pm. For a gold coin donation plant a daffodil in the first official flower garden at Sydenham Botanic Park. City Waters
- The reconstruction of the ocean outfall pipe chamber is finished. The remediation of the sand dune planting is yet to be done.
Transportation
- Chadwick Road: There is a temporary chip seal surface on Chadwick Road between Fraser Street and Mitchell Street which will be replaced with a hot mix surface in April. Please take care when driving in the area.
- Elizabeth Street: Work to upgrade pedestrian crossing points, lay new block paving and kerbs and plant new street trees on Elizabeth Street between Grey Street and Durham Street is due to start this week. The work is expected to take about two weeks to complete. Please take care if you are walking or driving in this area.
- Fraser Street: Weather permitting, work to reseal Fraser Street between 18th Avenue and Baycroft Avenue is due to start on Sunday 7 April. The work is expected to take about two weeks to complete and will be done at night to reduce disruption. Access to Fraser Cove shopping centre will be maintained at all times. Please take care if you are driving in the area.
- Otumoetai Road: Work to install ultrafast broadband as well as a 33KV power cable to the Matua Substation is continuing in the area around Otumoetai Road, Brookfield Terrace to Western Road. Please take care if you are driving or walking in these areas.
