Parts of Welcome Bay were left without water yesterday after a major watermain broke near Welcome Bay School.
Tauranga City Council communications advisor Marcel Currin says the 3metre deep watermain broke mid-morning on Sunday draining water from the upper streets including Resolution Road, Endeavour Avenue and James Cook Drive.

'The main was isolated for repairs at 1pm and the supply for that area was switched over to another part of the water reticulation system.”
Most properties had water again by 1.30pm, but one property in Oteki Park Drive was left without water until the main was fixed.
'Staff were in contact with that resident to supply water if needed.”
Marcel says contractors were on site until 2am today working to repair the broken main.
'There's still a lot of reinstatement work to be done as the water main was 3m deep.”
