Sixteen trees planted as memorials are to be felled as they are growing into high tension power lines.
The mature trees at McLaren Falls Park were planted about 20 years ago and are due to be removed in July this year.

Tauranga City Council says a few of the trees have memorial plaques but most are unidentified.
Some of the trees – two rimu, three kauri and one kaikatea - are on the bank and lake edge opposite Marshall's Animal Park.
There are also three kauri, three totara, two rimu, one puriri and one tanikaha on the opposite bank at Pin Oak Flat, looking back over the lake and Waterfall Track car park.
Tauranga City Council would like to hear from anyone who is associated with the memorial trees before they have to be removed in July 2013.
A full list of the trees is on the council website. Please contact the McLaren Falls Park Ranger on 5777 000 if you know who planted any of these trees.
