Road signs: your thoughts

The number of road signs gracing Tauranga's CBD streets has been questioned this week by residents who believe the large quantity of signs is a council ‘overkill'.

A review of the city's traffic signage released this week shows similar conclusions and announced hundreds of road signs around Tauranga will be removed in the coming months.

SunLive took to the streets this morning asking residents what they thought of the city's road sign numbers.

Signs including 112 roundabout signs on single lane entries, give way and advanced warning signs will be removed in residential areas and subdivisions deemed low in risk and traffic volumes.

Tauranga City Council city transportation manager Martin Parkes hopes this will reduce driver confusion and roading clutter.

I thought the TCC employed a paid planner to do do this in accordance to LTSA and to get it right the first time

Less signs means less confusion and less time wasted being distracted from the road and where you are actually going, like TCC officials "less is better"!
