Name change for Village?

Another name change for Tauranga's Village on 17th could follow the meeting between Tauranga City Councillors and tenants held there on Thursday.
It has been the Tauranga Historic Village, the Compass Community Village and now Village on 17th.

Village on 17th during the 2010 National Jazz Festival.

The villagers want a renaming that will incorporate the historic reference, says Mayor Stuart Crosby.
"That was one issue that we should return to a familiar name, there are now lots of villages round the city."
The meeting was well attended by village tenants and retailers, says Stuart. Plus there were a few members of the public.
There was an overview given of how council saw things, the councillors heard how the village saw things and the council will produce a report in June exploring marketing and promotional options, says Stuart.
"We will go back and say, 'is this the right message'," says Stuart.

Leave the decisions to those who know best, the people at the Historic Village make this place what it is, if you let TOWN Hall interfere at all in how it is run you will end up with another Baypark or even worse Route K

The Master is right

I like the way The Master thinks - All we need now is another few thousand like him and we could really get the place going. Unfortunately the likes of The Master are a dying breed - everyone wants a share of something that somebody owns, and vote accordingly - look at all those demanding they be given free books - they are completely immoral, and are completely oblivious to the fact. I would also apply the Master logic to the carparking down town, the art gallery, the museum, Baycourt etc etc.

LOL Its just non stop committees , studies , marketing ideas ......with no real Vision , how will a name change the real Problem ? The Location ! Just do what should have been done years ago and move the whole Place to the waterfront along Dive Cresent and create the Fishermans Wharf Concept .......with the correct Planning and yes some Buildings on Piers over the water would just be amazing .....for the CBD and Tauranga as a whole .......nothing would compare to it in New Zealand or Australia for that matter ......!

Tauanga Historic Village & Museum ? Sounds so simple, "TOWN" Hall could not possible like it.
