Commissioners: on the clock

Up for discussion at Tuesday's Tauranga City Council meeting is the notice of motion from Councillor Hayden Evans seeking to remove the council hearings commissioners.
Hayden wants to remove the commissioners to save money. The commissioners, who are also Tauranga City Councillors, are paid by the council.

Tauranga City Councillor Hayden Evans.

He wants independent commissioners appointed to consent hearings, with applicants paying for the commissioners.
Also for discussion is the museum project with the proposed Cliff Road museum site due to receive the official council approval.

Good on ya mate, but that is of course why "TOWN" Hall want to place it on a cliff top because it is the last place anyone would think to put it. Never mind the Geotech problems that surely will follow ... Never mind the fact that there is a railway just below that will shake the place to pieces and all in it, good thinking there but a shame to have to pay for a building just to do that. Is it logical to do any of the above ? of course not so "TOWN" Hall staff will throw millions at it now. All of the above actually assumes someone actually wants the thing in the first place.
