Blake Park cricket hearing

The consent hearing that will allow international cricket matches to be held at Bay Oval at Blake Park is being held at the Tauranga City Council on Thursday before independent hearings commissioner Doug Arcus.
The Tauranga City Council is seeking resource consents to build a three storey cricket stadium and clubhouse, and to build and operate floodlights for the oval.

Thousands of people attended first class T20 cricket matches held at Bay Oval last summer.

Other development aspects of the proposal include minor future extensions planned for the tennis, netball and hockey clubhouses, the creation of a third hockey field and two junior practice fields.
The council also proposes to re-orient sports fields, upgrade and build accessory buildings from car parking areas and improvements to park entrances, fences and landscaping.
The Mount Greens and Cosmopolitan Club portion of the proposal has already been granted resource consent.
