Leaky homes and library charges are among issues Tauranga City Councillors will have to make final decisions on this week.
Their deliberations on the annual plan issues begin Monday morning with the meeting process expected to continue Tuesday, with Wednesday and Thursday if required.
The councillors are trying to trim costs on a budget that is already requiring at least a 10 per cent rate hike to fund, but on the library issue alone they are facing determined public opposition.
Other issues flagged for discussion include the proposal to raise Route K tolls and the implications of the government's GST increase on the Tauranga City Council operations - and another look at the costs of the southern pipeline project.

I hope they have the intelligence not to raise the toll.... Perhaps the southern pipeline would be cheaper if it followed the highway to Te Maunga? Heaps of space in the Maungatapu bypass.

Mr Tibs ROUTE K just a no brainer cant be made to work financially by TCC no matter what they do.SOUTHERN PIPELINE you need to get rid of this Council to sort this mess out it wont work through Maungatapu needs to be stand alone plant at Tauriko saving between $100m&$150million ! ! its as simple as that so why wont the COUNCIL and Consultants go for it - take acouple of guesses

The southern pipe line needs to be built as is normal and recommended by the professional, the cost would then be almost half after that

Releasing TOWN and Crosbee to wander off to Wellington is a joke. TOWN has already been caught and found wanting over the Elms by giving away $400,000 that is a trifling sum compared to what the leaky homes is all about. Sending the Town and Crosbee show on the road to deal with this is economic suicide. They will no doubt use there wisdom on LEAKY HOMES equally as well as when these two through $12 million at Baypark that has lost money ever since. The pattern is there to see and will repeat again and again
